GEORGIA GRACE ON OVERCOMING AWKWARD SEX

Georgia Grace (@gpost. on Instagram) addresses the burning questions to ask the Ick. When you first feel the Ick, you may wish to spontaneously combust and never think about it ever again. Instead of running/hiding/screaming, it may be useful to sit with the Ick, make it a herbal tea, ask it a couple of questions. Maybe like the ones below.

Stay with it

Awkward moment can feel unbearable, and for this reason, many will stop engaging in any form of intimacy. If this is something you and your partner want to work on, try starting with the awkwardness, laugh, take a break, slow it down, most of the time it’s not as cringe as you’d expect.

Identify the root

What is making you feel awkward? Is there anything you can do to prevent, address or work with it?

Talk about it outside of a sexual context

While you may have the impulse to yell ‘well this is awkward’ try to set aside time to speak about sex outside of the bedroom.

Create the context for desire

What do you need to bring sex front of mind and create a sexual context? Get clear on what turns you on, off and communicate this with your partner!

Breathe

Take a deep breath, release that jaw, unclench your sphincters and do what you can to come back to the present moment.

Remember

Sex is awkward, our bodies behave in strange and unexpected ways. This is all very human.
